Home gym - inspiration for equipment and a sample project with links
How to convert a garage or unused room into a home gym. What equipment to buy and how to lay it out - you can find a sample project with links to the machines in this article.

Home gym equipment should primarily depend on your training goals. Therefore, it is necessary to first define these goals and acquire equipment accordingly. Another important factor is the budget. A home gym can be equipped for 30,000 crowns, but with a lower budget, you will be buying lower-quality machines that will start to warp and creak after a while, and that is not good. I recommend a budget between 50 - 60 thousand crowns, then you can reach medium-quality machines, which are more than enough for home use. And if you don't have a budget, you can buy professional machines.
However, you should always think about the most efficient use of space. A well-utilized space and a proper arrangement of tools is an important step to keep you motivated to exercise.
I have been working as a home personal trainer since 2008, that is, for over 16 years now (issue of article 8/2024) and I have seen, helped design and implement many home gyms. In this article, I would like to help you with the realization of your home gym. I was putting together a plan for a home gym for a client who decided to convert his garage into a home gym. This is a case study that may be useful for you when implementing your home fitness program.
Home gym - pattern with plan and links to equipment
The client had a garage measuring 6 x 3 m. Ceiling height 2.6m, in the place where the garage door rails were, we worked with a height of 2.3m. The ceiling was suspended and did not allow anchoring of hanging elements. So I had to deal with anchoring the hanging elements to the perimeter walls. He had already purchased an exercise bike and a roller, and he wanted to incorporate both pieces of equipment into his home gym. The budget was around 60,000 crowns for additional equipment. Men and women between 50 and 60 years of age will use the fitness center. The training goals were healthy body weight strengthening with an emphasis on the core, maintaining muscle tone and maintaining overall good physical condition. The design consultation was done online with a camera so I could see the space as the location was too far for a personal visit. After an hour-long consultation, we were clear about the client's goals, budget and space. Subsequently, I developed two proposals for the realization of a home gym. The first proposal was to incorporate all the elements purchased so far (cycling trainer, roller) and the second was to supplement the classic fitness tower at the expense of the roller. I spent 3 hours with designs and equipment selection. The client finally decided on the first proposal. Both suggestions for implementing home fitness can be found below. I have also added links to the article where you can order the goods. I'm not promoting the brand and you might get it better elsewhere. Some links are active and will take you directly to the equipment pages, others need to be copied into the search engine.
